Le français
C’est amusant!

November 3, 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are entering November and looking forward to the festive season. Most of the items outlined in the plans for September and October have been accomplished. However, some items will require ongoing review.

In Grade four, the students are finishing a unit called “Bonne Collation”. We have explored a world of snacks which involved the listening to a nutritionist’s recommendations for healthy snacks, classifying snacks into the four food groups, and an examination of various snack recipes. This has brought us to the final task of making simple recipes that the students can enjoy at home.

In Grade 6, we are in the process of finishing the unit called “Soyons Branches”. This unit focuses on media and technology. The students have learned how a magazine is produced, the use of technology in school, and how to find a French speaking pen pal. Ultimately, they will produce articles for a fictitious magazine.

This letter has been posted on the school’s web site. Please note that there will be extra help sessions given upon request by the student.

Sincerely,

A. Vakharia (Core French)

Mr. Vakharia’s Art Class Gr. 6 & 7

November 3, 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In Grade 6and 6/7 Art, we are using the knowledge of the Elements of Design and are pursing the theme of “The Canadian Society”.  We have finished the country and urban scenes in the Canadian Society through the medium of a montage and also of a collage. Presently, we are getting ready for the Remembrance Day observance by drawing war scenes from the two world wars in which Canada was involved extensively. This helps the students learn about figure drawing. In the Art class please note that a student has to hand in all the projects in order to pass the course. If a student has 65% or less in any assignment, he/she may rework the same assignment and resubmit for reassessment to a maximum of a 70%.

This letter has been posted on the school’s web site.

Sincerely,

A. Vakharia (Core French)
