Curriculum
& Co-Curricular Activities |
As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Glad Park P.S.
supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the
Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
A focus on literacy: Professional development is provided for school
staff by school Administrators, YRDSB consultants, and staff members.
Assessment and Evaluation: We are in phase three of the assessment and
evaluation program for the Board.
A focus on student leadership: We have an active, problem solving student
leadership group and athletic council. Our grade 4 – 8 students elect student
representatives to Student Council each year.
A focus on athletics: We offer a wide variety of intra mural sports
activities and school teams.

Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The
York Region District School Board has a Safe and Supportive Schools Policy and a
defined procedure to implement the policy. Both the policy and procedure support
the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including
prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences. The YRDSB remains
committed to the inclusion of anti-racist and equity education in its policies
and programs.
Safe Schools initiatives that are very important at Glad Park P.S. include:
- bullying prevention programs
- VIP Program
- Kiss and Ride Traffic Program (being developed in 2003-04)
In addition, Glad Park P.S. supports the development of Character Education
in the York Region District School Board. The following is an overview of the
school's Character Education initiatives:
Character Education: Character Education is celebrated through monthly
themes and daily announcements. Attributes of positive character traits are
expected to permeate all interactions with staff/students and parents within the
school. Stouffville is an area which will undergo the rapid
growth and cultural changes that most of York Region has experienced.
We work with all our students to ensure inclusivity and equity throughout Glad
